Core services of
hazardous waste, wastewater and groundwater analyses are provided at the
stationary laboratory located in downtown Los Angeles, California.
Additional services include drinking water analyses, field sampling and
sample pick-up/logistics.
Our Technology
The laboratory consists of the state-of-the-art organic and inorganic
sections. The organic section features automated volatiles and
semi-volatile labs and a physically separated extraction lab. The
inorganic section consists of metals and wet labs. Learn more

Working On-Site With You
A mobile laboratory provides on-site real-time data for those projects
requiring fuel-related, and volatile compounds
analyses. Multiple GC and GC/MS are provided to achieve multiple analytical methods.
HISTORY
Positive Lab Service
formerly known as the chemistry department of Smith-Emery
Company, was incorporated in December of 1994 as a full service, independent analytical laboratory. Smith-Emery was founded as a chemistry
laboratory in 1904, making Positive Lab Service one of the oldest
continuously operating analytical laboratories in the western United
States. Since 1987, the laboratory's efforts have been focused on
the environmental field. Steady growth of staff and facilities have
resulted in Positive Lab Service's established reputation in the
environmental marketplace.
CERTIFICATIONS
Positive Lab Service has
maintained California certifications as a hazardous waste, wastewater
and drinking water laboratory since 1987.
Positive Lab Service is
certified by IAPMO Research and Testing, Inc., to perform NSF 61 and
Toxicity Testing.
Positive Lab Service
holds the United States Department of Agriculture Soil Permit.
The rigorous Navy
evaluation process was completed in 1994, allowing Positive Lab Service
to provide NAVY CLEAN and RAC contracts support.
Army Corps of Engineers
evaluation process (Missouri River Division program) was completed in
1995.
Positive Lab Service has
been certified in the states of Oregon, Montana, Washington, and Alaska.
Local certifications include County Sanitation Districts of LA County
and California Regional Water Quality Control Board (Well Investigation
Program).
